Studying and living in Italy brought the gift of looking, and I was most inspired by the art, architecture, and landscape. Visiting museums and embracing the culture has had a lasting impact on my inspiration.
I make ceramic work both for daily use and as art objects as well as making handmade artist books. My ceramic work is hand built using the slab technique; adding textures and patterns with stamps I have made; then forming the object. More textured clay pieces may be added until I am satisfied with the design.
My book arts bring together my interest in raw materials and are created using simple structures along with cardboard, handmade paper and various ephemera.
A nice gift for a someone special.
I've been creating these fortune cookies for many years. Each are about 2 inches in diameter, and hold a fortune that's slipped inside.
